Robert Plant @ Palace Theatre Columbus, OH

The main thing I took from Monday June 13th's concert was that, across the board, the musicianship was top notch. Each person in the band was featured at different times during the course of the concert - each incredible. Mr. Plant has defied father time by still sounding great and by displaying stage presence like only a living legend can. The Columbus crowd was enthusiastic, the sound mix was spot on and the band seemed to really be enjoying themselves. As I said to my wife after the show, it's extremely hard to find any faults with what we had just witnessed. Search the web for setlists - it appears they vary the setlist from city to city. Hopefully your favorite(s) make the cut in your city :) The show's opener, North Mississippi Allstars, are a blues/rock duo (formerly a trio) who played a much too short set. Definitely a band to see as a headliner if you haven't ever seen them.

Fantastic!!!

The Mahalia Jackson Theatre is an excellent venue. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The opening band, Lil' Band O' Gold was a very pleasant surprise (as for some reason I didn't know Robert Plant had an opening act on this tour). They are from Louisiana. I enjoyed them so much I bought their CD the other day. I cannot say enough about Robert Plant and his band...amazing. I'll leave it at that. My only complaint would be regarding many of those in attendance. Technology (phones, tablets) is ruining the experience. I can understand taking a few photos or a few short videos..but the WHOLE CONCERT?!?! Robert Plant actually commented on one person in the front who had their iPad on their face the whole time. Then, people kept getting up and down (getting drinks and snacks and what not) for whatever reason. Mr. Plant then jokingly suggested that they might have cystitis. Finally, though many people probably did not know of the opening band they are a Louisisna band and were very happy to be home and opening for the legendary Robert Plant. Folks possibly have been a little more supportive, attentive, and welcoming. Mr.Plant had commented on how influential blues from Louisiana and Mississipi have been on him and how the blues is being exported back to us from England. We are taking our culture for granted. Aside from that...one of the best concerts ever!
